New ADO Den Haag boss Alan Pardew wants to make Sheffield United midfielder Ravel Morrison his first signing.

The 26-year-old signed a one-year contract with the Blades in the summer but has played just three times since and only once in the Premier League.

United are open to letting Morrison go this month and Pardew has put him top of his winter shopping list as he gets ready for his first Eredivisie game in charge, at home to bottom club RKC Waalwijk on January 19.

Alan Pardew says he is 'excited' about the prospect of working abroad with Ado Den Haag

Unveiled as Den Haag new manager on Thursday, alongside chief executive Mo Hamdi and new technical director Martin Jol, Pardew said they would target players from the UK to help the relegation-threatened side stay in the Dutch top-flight.

He told Sky Sports News: "The club is in a bad position. The team look like they need help and confidence in what they're doing.

"I think additional players would help them, and of course I'll look at the British market because it's a market I know well.

"I've had a lot of lovely messages and good feeling from within the game. I have a lot of friends and I'm going to lean on them to hopefully get one or two players that can help this club."

Pardew has been brought in to save the Eredivisie side from relegation, but is keen to return to the Premier League

Pardew's contract will run until the end of the season and the 58-year-old admits he is keen to return to the Premier League in the future.

He added: "It is until the end of the season and it really is a rescue mission to try and come here and help them out.

"Then I'll decide whether it's a station where I want to stay or move on, and I think that's something further down the line.

"I certainly hope my time in the Premier League isn't over. Looking at Roy Hodgson, it looks like I've got a few years left to go because he's doing a great job at Palace.

"It's a great league of course, but at the same time I did think I needed a rest from it.

"I had a long time in there, 10 years almost on and off. So it's nice to have a new experience, I'm really motivated and I hope it goes very well."
