FC Twente spurned the chance to move up to fifth in the Eredivisie table as they were held to a 1-1 draw at bottom side ADO Den Haag on Friday.
The home side opened the scoring after 12 minutes when Guyon Fernandez saw his shot parried by Twente goalkeeper Nick Marsman and Ruben Schaken netted the rebound.
But the strugglers were only ahead for 14 minutes as Manchester City loanee Enes Unal scored following a Kamohelo Mokotjo pass.
Yet just two minutes later the home side could have been back in front but Dion Malone's shot was blocked.
Unal almost put his side ahead after 53 minutes but his header was cleared off the line as a dominant Twente failed to make their possession count.
Leaders Feyenoord are in action on Sunday when they host third-placed PSV Eindhoven, while Ajax face Heracles in the final game of the weekend.
