Ajax thumped NEC Nijmegen 5-0 as they tightened their grip on second place in the Eredivisie on Sunday.

Kasper Dolberg scored a first-half hat-trick for the Amsterdam club, while Chelsea loanee Bertrand Traore and Lasse Schoene completed the scoring shortly after half-time.

It means the club stay two points behind league leaders Feyenoord, who recorded a similarly comfortable 3-0 win at home against PEC Zwolle.

Former Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt opened the scoring in the 38th minute for Feyenoord, while Karim El Ahmadi and Jens Toornstra netted in the second half.

Elsewhere on Sunday, Roda JC Kerkrade and FC Twente drew 1-1 at home against AZ Alkmaar and FC Utrecht respectively.
