Espanyol and Mallorca reach swap arrangement
Espanyol and Real Mallorca have put in place a swap deal that will see Javi Marquez trade places with Sergio Tejera.
Marquez made only nine Primera Liga appearances for Espanyol in 2011/12 after struggling for much of the campaign with an ankle complaint.
He was unable to hold down a regular role when fully fit and was considered to be surplus to requirements by coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Marquez snubbed the opportunity to pen a new deal with the Barcelona-based club as a result of his lack of opportunities.
Interest
Numerous sides were reported to have expressed an interest in the 26-year-old, including Valencia.
He will, however, be turning out for Mallorca next season.
Tejera will move in the opposite direction in a switch which returns him to his roots.
He spent six years at Espanyol as a youngster before linking up with Chelsea in 2006 for a three-year stint.
