Valencia boss Gary Neville has slammed the officiating after his youth side lost to Chelsea in a penalty shoot-out on Tuesday.
The UEFA Youth League match ended 1-1 at Chelsea's Cobham training ground before going to penalties.
Chelsea won the shoot-out 5-4 to make the quarter-finals, but only after Alberto Gil's spot-kick - Valencia's first of the shoot-out - was wrongly disallowed.
Videos showed the ball crossing the line before striking a stanchion and bouncing clear, but the referee and the official on the goal-line ruled it had hit the post.
The players protested at length on the pitch and on the incident, a tweet from Valencia's account said: "Incredible! The ball from Valencia has been a goal but the referee has not given it."
The former Manchester United defender responded on his Twitter account by saying: "Scandalous!!! Can't believe what I've just seen...."
Valencia announced on Tuesday evening they would be appealing to UEFA about the disallowed goal.
Chelsea expressed their sympathies for their opponents by tweeting: "TV replays show that Valencia's first penalty in the shoot out did cross the line but it was not given by the officials."
A club statement fom La Liga side which read: "Valencia wish to inform all our fans that the club will present a written protest in relation to the refereeing decision to disallow a goal for our team.
"We trust that UEFA will give an appropriate response at the level required by the situation, after it has had the opportunity to analyse our appeal. Finally, Valencia wish to thank the sportsmanship of Chelsea for having recognised that the disallowed penalty had gone in."
