Barcelona hope to sign up to two players before the transfer window shuts after completing a £97m deal for Ousmane Dembele.
The France international was unveiled in front of around 17,000 fans at the Nou Camp on Monday after the 20-year-old sealed his switch from Borussia Dortmund and became the world's second most expensive signing - behind new Paris Saint-Germain recruit Neymar.
Barcelona have been knocked back in their attempts to sign Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho, who has been described to Sky Sports News as "very low at the moment", with his desired move to the Nou Camp having so far failed to materialise.
While Coutinho fears the signing of Dembele could mean a transfer to Barcelona is off, the Spanish club's technical director Robert Fernandez is planning more new faces before the end of Deadline Day.
"We hope to present another player before the end of the month," Fernandez said.
"My intention is for one player to come or maybe two, if possible. I won't go into names but I admit that the club is working on the possibility of signing new players."
Coutinho has wanted to move to Barcelona for most of the summer but the Reds insist he is not for sale and have rejected three huge offers, the latest some £113m rising potentially to £118m
