Getafe and Elche were unable to build on victories in their last outings and had to share the points after a goalless affair at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.
Fran Escriba's Elche had marginally the better chances and were denied on a couple of occasions by Getafe stopper Vicente Guaita, while in the second half their striker Jonathas squandered the best opportunity of the game.
Getafe went into the match following an impressive display in their 2-0 win at Deportivo La Coruna but could not follow it up in front of their home fans, managing just three attempts on goal in the 90 minutes.
The visitors needed just two minutes to test Guaita, who dived low to push away a shot from Victor Rodriguez, after Cristian Herrera held the ball up. Next the winger played the role of provider, teeing up Jonathas inside the area, but the Brazilian forward drove over the bar.
At the other end, Sergio Escudero nearly caught Elche goalkeeper Przemyslaw Tyton out with a volley from distance, but the Polish goalkeeper gathered the ball at the second attempt. The custodian had to be alert again a few minutes later, saving well from Pablo Sarabia.
A few minutes into the second half Jonathas wasted the clearest chance of the match, volleying over the bar from inside the six-yard box following a free-kick. A few minutes later Herrera got through on goal against Guaita but the former Valencia stopper stood firm again.
Getafe came back stronger towards the end of the game but struggled to make Tyton work.
Substitute Sammir slammed a free-kick over the wall but also above the bar, Escudero put in a dangerous cross but no-one could get on the end of it, and in the last minute the left-back went for goal from range but could only send the ball into the stands.
