La Liga provides us with a full round of midweek fixtures, starting with the chance to appreciate Eibar's remarkable campaign on Tuesday night.

The Spanish minnows head to Basque rivals Real Sociedad looking to climb into the European qualification places, less than three seasons on from campaigning to raise the funds to pay for their promotion to the top flight.

Like Leicester last season, Jose Luis Mendilibar's men started their campaign as 5,000/1 shots to win La Liga and, while the title may be beyond them, their achievements are no less remarkable given the city's population could fit inside the King Power Stadium.

Here's a look at their short trip to San Sebastian and Tuesday's other two ties, all live on Sky Sports, in more depth...

Real Sociedad v Eibar (Tuesday, 6.30pm, live on Sky Sports 3 HD)

Fifth-placed Real Sociedad have the opportunity to leapfrog Atletico Madrid and climb into the Champions League places if they can see off Eibar, but the hosts will be more than aware of the threat posed by the season's surprise package.

Eibar, who can climb from eighth to sixth, won the reverse fixture 2-0, albeit playing against 10 men for 66 minutes, and have won four of their last five La Liga clashes. Indeed, only the top four have beaten them since the start of December.

The minnows secured top-flight promotion for the first time in 2013/2014 and only avoided an instant return to the second tier courtesy of Elche going into administration. They consolidated in 14th position last season and are now just a point off the Europa League qualification places.

Like much of their team, leading scorer Sergi Enrich was signed on a free transfer and will be looking to extend a run of six goals in as many games in all competitions, while team-mate Adrian Gonzalez has five in five.

They have plenty of reasons to believe they can record a first win in San Sebastian but their hosts have their own lofty aspirations, with the chance to qualify for the Champions League looking a genuine prospect.

Only Real Madrid, Sevilla and Villarreal have left Anoeta with three points this season but the minnows down the road have the form to suggest they can but boost their once unthinkable European hopes.

Sky Bet odds: Real Sociedad 4/5, Draw 13/5, Eibar 7/2

Valencia v Leganes (Tuesday, 8.30pm, live on Sky Sports 3 HD)

It was a case of contrasting fortunes for these two sides at the weekend. A resurgent Valencia slipped to a 2-1 loss at Alaves while lowly Leganes ended an 11-match winless run with a 4-0 victory over Deportivo.

It speaks volumes that the visitors' rare triumph prompted Depor to part company with manager Gaizka Garitano, with the win also sending them above Deportivo into 16th.

Highlights of the La Liga match between Valencia and Real Madrid at the Mestalla

Los Che failed to put any lingering relegation doubts to bed as they let a lead slip at Alaves, having collected seven points from their last three games including a 2-1 win over Real Madrid.

That win was all the more remarkable given their form at the Mestalla this season, having previously won just three home games, while they have the third worst home defensive record in the league.

Having met in the Copa del Rey, Valencia have already beaten their visitors three times this season, although they did concede on each occasion, providing our angle for backing them at odds-against here.

Malaga v Real Betis (Tuesday, 8.30pm, live on Sky Sports 3 HD red button)

Real Betis will be looking to end a troubling six-match winless run, which has seen them slip below their hosts and just seven points clear of the relegation zone.

Malaga are only two points better off having relied on their home form, with six victories at La Rosaleda compensation for their inability to win on the road.

All but one of those triumphs have been by a single goal so a reverse of their 1-0 loss in Seville would follow the form guide.
