'Madrid is in ruins', according to Marca, as the Spanish press react to Barcelona's historic 4-0 win over Real on Saturday...
MARCA
"The Bernabeu asks for their heads" reads the front page of Spain's most popular sports newspaper, the Madrid-based title declaring the city "in ruins" after the humiliating defeat.
The Marca website describes Rafael Benitez as a "sitting duck", and also focuses on the Real Madrid fans' calls for president Florentino Perez to "resign".
"Now or in June. The sacking of Benitez only lacks a date because the decision has already been taken after the debacle suffered by Real Madrid against Barcelona in the Bernabeu," Marca published on Sunday.
AS
"A thrashing for Florentino-ism," ran the front page of Madrid's other sports daily AS.
After Barcelona's "landslide" victory, the sports daily also referenced the applause from the Bernabeu crowd for Andres Iniesta, just as they did 10 years ago for Ronaldinho after his famous performance at the home of their rivals.
The Brazilian legend received a standing ovation in 2005 after scoring twice in Barca's 3-0 win, a defining image in El Clasico's history.
MUNDO DEPORTIVO
"What. A. Beating," is the cry from this Spanish daily sports paper - published in Barcelona - which goes on to rate every Real Madrid player with just one star, while awarding Claudio Bravo, Gerard Pique, Andres Iniesta, Luis Suarez, Neymar and Barcelona manager Luis Enrique four stars.
Mundo Deportivo also praises the "brilliant" Neymar and Luis Suarez, and also references the ovation Iniesta received at the Bernabeu.
SPORT
"Wow, a thrashing!" says Sport on its front page, while letting a giant scoreline on a black background speak for itself.
The publication labels Real's defeat "humiliating" and again notes the calls for Perez to "resign".
