Runaway leaders Hearts moved within touching distance of clinching the Scottish Championship title after sweeping aside Falkirk 3-0 in Stirlingshire.

Goals from Jamie Walker, Genero Zeefuik and James Keatings earned the Edinburgh side their 25th victory from 29 games this season, and the title could be theirs as early as Sunday afternoon if Hibs fail to beat Rangers at Easter Road.

Osman Sow’s cross set up Walker to open the scoring from 12 yards with 27 minutes on the clock.

Sow came close to doubling the lead in the 42nd minute only for his close-range effort to be well saved by Falkirk keeper Jamie MacDonald.

And Walker turned provider two minutes after the break when his cross fell to Zeefuik who found the bottom right hand corner of the net from 12 yards.

Substitute Keatings added a third goal eight minutes from time with a rising shot from the right side of the box, after latching onto Neil Alexander’s assist.

The victory over Falkirk - the only team to have beaten them this season - leaves Hearts just two points from clinching the Scottish Championship title.
