Falkirk striker Kevin O'Hara has been banned for eight matches for abusing Dunfermline's Dean Shiels about his missing eye.

O'Hara, who is yet to score in 12 appearances so far this season, has been found guilty of 'excessive misconduct' during the 2-0 win over Dunfermline on October 7.

The 19-year-old was eventually substituted in the 83rd minute at the Falkirk Stadium but Shiels was sent off right at the death for a heavy challenge on Joe McKee.

Ex-Rangers midfielder Shiels had an operation to have his right eye removed in 2006 following an accident when he was eight years old.

Dunfermline boss Allan Johnston stated after match: "I think there were maybe some poor remarks made towards Dean."

A Falkirk statement said: "The club take note of the decision made by the Scottish FA Judical Panel and are in the process of requesting the written reasons. No further comment will be made at this time."
