Rangers striker Kemar Roofe has been handed a four-game ban by UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body for 'dangerously assaulting another player'.

The ban is in response to Roofe's red card for a high challenge on Slavia Prague goalkeeper Ondrej Kolar in a Europa League tie on March 18.

Kolar was stretchered off and wore a head guard when he returned to action in the next round against Arsenal, while Rangers eventually finished the match with nine players after Leon Balogun was also sent off.

Rangers have also been fined 9,000 euros for 'the improper conduct of the team' during the defeat at Ibrox which must be paid within 90 days.

Their exit from the Europa League last month was overshadowed by suggestions Glen Kamara was racially abused by Slavia Prague's Ondrej Kudela, an allegation both the player and club denied.

However, Kudela has since been found guilty of racist behaviour by UEFA and banned for 10 European matches, while Kamara has received a three-game ban for assaulting another player in an incident following the final whistle.

Last week, Rangers became the first Scottish club to boycott social media platforms over a lack of action in combating racism and other forms of abuse.
