Danny Wilson has backed Rangers team-mate Joe Dodoo for a starting spot as the Ibrox side chase a third successive win against Hearts at Tynecastle on Wednesday.
The former Leicester striker came off the bench against Partick Thistle on Saturday to rescue his side as his two late goals cancelled out Kris Doolan's 75th-minute opener.
The late victory followed seven days on from a 1-0 home success over Dundee which was secured by a stoppage-time winner by Harry Forrester.
Dodoo has struggled to make an impact with Mark Warburton's side following his summer move north, with his double at Fitrhill his first goals in the league for the club.
Saturday's match was only the fifth time in 14 league games when Rangers have scored more than one goal and Wilson is convinced Dodoo has shown enough to deserve a run in the side.
"He has done well and this can be a platform for him to push on," said Wilson, who captained Hearts to the Championship title in 2015.
"He's had a few injuries but now hopefully he can get a run. He has the qualities to kick on. I think that's what we do need. We have been trying to preach to each other that we should be calmer when we get into those situations.
"I'm not a forward so it's not my place to tell people how to finish but Joe has scored two great goals. He has the capabilities to put the ball in the back of the net.
"We have not scored that many goals this season and that has been our downfall in games."
Hearts, who trail Rangers by three points, could leapfrog the Glasgow side into second spot with a win and head coach Robbie Neilson is confident his team can improve on their third-place finish of last season.
"It's a huge game for us," said Neilson, who will speak to MK Dons on Tuesday after the English League One side made an official approach for the 36-year-old .
"This season has been kind of stop-start games-wise. Now we're going into a period of playing Saturday, midweek, Saturday. It gives us a chance to get into second and to try and keep hold of it."
