Celtic came from behind to draw 2-2 away to NK Celje of Slovenia in their first match under manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Bhoys kicked off their pre-season run of matches on Thursday by using a complete set of fresh legs in either half at the Arena Petrol, with both Celtic line-ups conceding to the hosts either side of the interval.

A first-time shot at a corner from Celje captain Danijel Miskic put the hosts in front before the skipper added a second from a free-kick five minutes after the break.

But Celtic hit back as Nadir Ciftci sharp header got his team finally building momentum in the contest thanks to the creativity of Stuart Armstrong.

A satisfied Rodgers said: "It was an excellent work out for us. The overall agenda of the game was to develop our fitness, and there certainly was that, so I'm very pleased.

"In the second half, the game was much quicker but we're only just over a week into pre-season and normally the games don't come so early but I was very pleased with the overall attitude.
