Celtic prospect Kristoffer Ajer is determined to keep up his medical studies as he bids to make his mark at Parkhead.

The 18-year-old Norwegian linked up with his Celtic team-mates at their summer training camp in Slovenia after signing a pre-contract agreement in February.

The teenager was persuaded to sign by former boss Ronny Deila, but it is Brendan Rodgers he will now have to impress after his compatriot quit at the end of the season.

The 6ft 5in midfielder is in the third year of training to become a doctor and has set his heart on a career in medicine once he hangs up his boots.

"I have finished my second year at the school and will finish my third year while I'm here in Glasgow," he told The Herald.

"I will finish my third year at college then I'll study medicine at the University of Glasgow. One day when I end my career I'll be a doctor hopefully."

Ajer would not be the first Celtic player to graduate from Glasgow; Brian McClair took a BA in mathematics before joining the club from Motherwell in 1983.
