Carayol helps Pirates progress

Mustapha Carayol broke the hearts of Corby with a brilliant solo goal as Bristol Rovers ran out 3-1 winners in their FA Cup first-round clash.

Winger Carayol unleashed an unstoppable 30-yard shot which flashed past goalkeeper Chris MacKenzie in the 74th minute - just when the visitors were threatening an upset. Scott McGleish had confidently side-footed Rovers ahead from the penalty spot in the 25th minute after Andy Hall had been rightly penalised for a trip on Carayol. But Corby equalised after 62 minutes when Callum Reynolds fired home from point-blank range after Matt Rhead's shot had been saved by Scott Bevan. However, Carayol put Rovers back in front and Chris Zebroski headed the third from a Craig Stanley free-kick as stoppage time approached.
