Late Dons show stuns Exiles

AFC Wimbledon scored twice in the final five minutes to snatch a 2-1 win at Newport.

Kevin Sainte-Luce grabbed the winner in the 88th minute after Charlie Sheringham had equalised for the visitors just three minutes previous. Newport had taken a second-half lead when Dons goalkeeper Ross Worner dropped a Harry Worley free-kick into his own net. A dire first period had seen only one shot on target from either side when Dons midfielder Luke Moore aimed a low drive too close to County goalkeeper Elliott Parish after 28 minutes. Wimbledon started the better in the second period but striker Danny Hylton could only header over with a chance from eight yards. The game's opening goal came after 65 minutes when Worner spilled a long free-kick under pressure from Rene Howe. AFC Wimbledon got their equaliser in the 85th minute when County failed to clear a corner from the left and Sheringham smashed home from close range. And County's agony was complete three minutes later as Sainte-Luce found space inside the penalty area and rifled a shot past Parish.
