Two goals in seven minutes were enough for Newport to complete a Devon double with a 2-1 victory over Torquay.
The Welsh club ended a month-long winless run after overcoming Exeter last week, and goals from Ismail Yakubu and Danny Crow ensured they claimed another three points after surviving a Gulls fight-back courtesy of Ade Azeez' goal. The visitors made a bright start and Harry Worley was forced to intercept a tantalising Jordan Chapell ball in the opening minutes. But the hosts took the lead shortly before the half-hour mark with Yakubu climbing above the defence to nod Robbie Willmott's free-kick past goalkeeper Martin Rice. They then landed a further blow on 36 minutes. Again Willmott provided the opening, he found Conor Washington with a superb ball and the 21-year-old cut inside to feed Crow, who expertly finished with his left foot. The Gulls came out fighting in the second half and forced Lenny Pidgeley into a succession of fine saves before finding the back of the net through Azeez. They continued to press but were unable to get another breakthrough as County hung on.Double Devon delight for Exiles
