Dayle Grubb scored a brace on his home debut for Forest Green as they came from behind twice to beat Cambridge 5-2.
It was the U's who netted within three minutes after Uche Ikpeazu threaded through George Maris to tuck home the opener, before Forest Green marksman Christian Doidge levelled with his 18th goal of the season after 18 minutes.
Cambridge were back ahead seven minutes later when Medy Elito got to the byline before shooting into the opposite corner.
Grubb levelled after 42 minutes with his first Football League goal, following a well-worked move when the ball came back to the midfielder inside the box to slide home into the bottom corner.
The 26-year-old former sports teacher sealed the victory with a goal to remember after 74 minutes, picking the ball up outside the box before rocketing his shot into the top corner.
Doidge sealed the points with his side's fourth goal eight minutes from time by capitalising on a goalkeeper error before debutant Tahvon Campbell made it five in injury time.
