Plymouth Argyle inflicted a first home defeat of the season on Doncaster as they edged closer to promotion from Sky Bet League Two with a 1-0 victory on Sunday.
In a battle of the top two at the Keepmoat Stadium, Argyle closed the gap on leaders Rovers to just three points with centre-back Sonny Bradley netting his seventh goal of the season in the 50th minute.
The goal was Plymouth's only shot on target as Darren Ferguson's men found Plymouth goalkeeper Luke McCormick in inspired form.
Despite the defeat, the immediate future remains bright for Doncaster, who require just six more points to confirm their automatic promotion - although they now have a fight on their hands to win the League Two title.
Plymouth came with a plan to defend deep and counter attack and it worked to perfection as Doncaster's unbeaten home run was ended one game short of a full year.
Argyle were indebted to goalkeeper McCormick for two stunning saves either side of half-time.
First he pushed away a downward header from John Marquis and then, after Plymouth had gone ahead, tipped over a rasping volley from James Coppinger.
Plymouth's goal came on 50 minutes when Bradley peeled away from his marker and powered in a header at the back post.
In the last minute, Jakub Sokolik produced a vital block from Tommy Rowe to ensure the win for Plymouth, while a volley from Coppinger bounced narrowly wide in the final seconds.
