A late goal from Lee Brown secured promotion to League One at the first attempt for Bristol Rovers and sparked wild scenes at the Memorial Stadium.
Brown hit an injury-time winner to earn Rovers automatic promotion from League Two with a 2-1 victory over Dagenham & Redbridge.
The left-back was the unlikely hero, firing home the rebound after a Matt Taylor shot had come back off a post to signal jubilant celebrations in an 11,000 crowd.
Rovers had been denied by Daggers goalkeeper Mark Cousins and the woodwork in a second half of growing frustration.
Even when the final whistle went their fans had to wait an agonising couple of minutes to learn Accrington had failed to beat Stevenage.
Matty Cash gave Dagenham a shock 12th minute lead, moving on to a Christian Doidge pass and shooting right-footed past Steve Mildenhall from a central position just inside the box.
But Rovers were level within three minutes as Billy Bodin picked up the ball on the right of the penalty area and wriggled between two defenders before beating Mark Cousins from close range.
It was left to Brown to have the final say to seal Rovers' rise into League One.
