Shots shoot down Bantams

Wilko Risser kept Aldershot's play-off hopes alive with a second half tap-in to earn Dean Holdsworth's side a 1-0 home win against Bradford.

Chris Dagnall, signed on loan from Barnsley on Friday, was energetic throughout for City and was denied a 10th-minute goal by a tackle and save from Shots goalkeeper Jamie Young. In a first half of few chances, Bradford captain Michael Flynn was next to test Young 15 minutes later, but his 35-yard shot was comfortable for the keeper. Aldershot midfielder Michael Doughty kept pushing his side forward and went close with a swivelling half-volley just before the break. Dagnall had another effort saved by Young just before the hour mark as the keeper tipped the shot round his left-hand post. With 20 minutes to go the Shots found the breakthrough, after Sonny Bradley found substitute Rob Sinclair, signed on loan from Stevenage last week, in space down the left. Bradford keeper Jon McLaughlin could only tip his cross onto the bar, allowing Risser to tap home the simplest of winners.
