Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe believes his side could produce the shock of the weekend in the Premier League when his side face Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

City are currently top of the table having won their first four games but they lost a day's rest after Tuesday's Champions League game with Borussia Moenchengladbach was put back to Wednesday because of torrential rain.

City won the game 4-0, but Howe is hoping the quick turnaround will be to his team's advantage.

The Cherries are not new to producing shock performances in the league as last season they beat Chelsea and Manchester United in the space of eight days.

Howe said: "It's a great challenge for us, I see Manchester City as potential champions.

"But it's a good time for us to go and face the best.

"Like the Chelsea game last year, we're looking for that one match that can inspire the rest of the season as that one did for us last season.

"In the games against the big clubs last year we had some success and some big beatings.

"We will need to be at our best and they will potentially need to have a day where they don't perform as well as they have done so far this season."
