Brighton are interested in appointing Swansea manager Graham Potter as Chris Hughton's successor, Sky Sports News understands.
The Seagulls technical director Dan Ashworth is thought to have been watching Potter's Swansea in recent months and has been impressed with the style of play he has implemented at the Liberty Stadium.
Potter is understood to be among two or three candidates the club are discussing after sacking Hughton on Monday morning, after they finished fourth-bottom of the Premier League on 36 points.
The decision was taken by Brighton chairman Tony Bloom following Sunday's final-day defeat at home to Manchester City, which saw Pep Guardiola's side lift the Premier League title for a second successive campaign.
Hughton leaves the Amex Stadium having take the team from relegation candidates in the Championship to promotion in 2017 and safety in the top flight for two consecutive seasons, although their form tailed off badly in recent months.
And his dismissal has been met with some criticism, with John Barnes branding it a "ridiculous decision".
Hughton's potential successor Potter finished 10th in the Championship, nine points short of the play-off places, having joined from Swedish side Ostersund FK at the end of last season when they were relegated from the top flight.
