Chris Hughton says beating Huddersfield "feels like a big win" after Brighton secured their first Premier League victory of 2019.
A close-range header from Florin Andone proved the difference as Brighton ended their seven-game winless streak with a 1-0 victory over the Yorkshire club at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.
Hughton was relieved to see his side end the streak and felt Brighton got the break in the game they deserved.
"It feels like a big win," he told Sky Sports.
"Every win we will have from now until the end of the season will feel like one but particularly in the run that we've had. We've been unfortunate at times and today was a bit similar to the type of games we've had.
"You need those moments to go for you. We had that with the goal. We should have had the moment with the penalty appeal, but I think we got our margins right today."
Brighton's long-awaited league victory sees them move up to 15th in the Premier League table on 30 points, and Hughton has called on his players to build on the result with nine games left of their season to play.
He added: "It's something to build on again. We didn't expect to go through the season without having a difficult period and that can be at any stage.
"We have had not so much in terms of performances but results. It's a good result for us today but we need to build on that."
