Huddersfield's Wembley hero Danny Ward is hoping to return to the club for a second loan spell next season.
On-loan Liverpool goalkeeper Ward helped Town reach the Premier League for the first time with a penalty shootout save from Reading's Jordan Obita last month.
The Wales international made two shootout saves against Sheffield Wednesday in the semi-final and now wants a crack at regular Premier League football having made just two starts in four-and-a-half years at Anfield.
"It's in the hands of Liverpool because ultimately I'm their player," the 23-year-old. "They've got to decide what's best. Liverpool have my contract and their needs come first, especially with the Champions League.
"On a selfish point, yes, I would like to stay at Huddersfield. I am only young for a goalkeeper and to have a chance of playing week-in week-out in the Premier League would be good experience for someone of my age.
"It would be more beneficial than being on the bench but, as I say, Liverpool have my contract."
Ward's Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is friends with Huddersfield manager David Wagner, and the keeper said: "I know they were in constant contact and hopefully [Klopp] has heard only good things."
