Swansea manager Paul Clement revealed he went for a run rather than watch his side's Premier League fate be decided at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Swansea were four points adrift at the bottom when Clement replaced Bob Bradley as manager in January, the former Bayern Munich assistant coach tasked with extending their top-flight stay for a seventh year.

Victory in that fight was confirmed after Hull suffered a 4-0 defeat away at Crystal Palace, but Clement admits he could not bear to watch the lunchtime kick-off.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "I actually decided not to watch the game and went out for a run instead. When I came back in I was tempted to put it back on but waited another 15 minutes before I checked. Palace were leading 2-0 and shortly after that they got their penalty and at that point (3-0) I knew we were going to be safe.

Paul Clement says talks are planned over the futures of Fernando Llorente and Gylfi Sigurdsson

"All sorts of things had been going through my mind when I was out running, what is going on in the game and all sorts of scenarios depending on the result but fortunately it went our way this time."

Clement admitted that the club's late surge of form had come at just the right time and highlighted the 2-0 win over Stoke on April 22 as the key result.

He said: "Fortunately we were able to finish very strongly having had a dip when we picked up only one point in six games but the big turning point was the game against Stoke when we won.

"We then got a good draw at Man United and then a win against Everton and then the victory at Sunderland that really finished things off."

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Fernando Llorente have been central to the Swans' survival bid and Clement said he is determined to keep his two prize assets in south Wales.

"I don't foresee many changes," he said. "They are a very hard-working group with a fantastic spirit.

"You always want to try and keep your best players and those two (Sigurdsson and Llorente) have been key. Myself, Huw Jenkins and the owners will have discussions this weekend and early next week to decide how we move forward."
