Swansea defender Franck Tabanou looks set to rejoin St Etienne on loan during the current transfer window.

The 26-year-old moved to south Wales in a £3.5m deal last summer but has struggled to displace Neil Taylor at left-back.

Tabanou has not been in direct talks with St Etienne over a return to the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard but coach Christophe Galtier has stated on Twitter he expects him to return to the club in this month's transfer window.

"There is an agreement in principle between Swansea and #ASSE #Tabanou Franck wants to come back and I want to see Frank," he tweeted.

Galtier said in L'Equipe: "We now need to make it contractual between all parties.

"I have not met Franck this week. He came to see his friends. But I hope he returns to St Etienne. This is where he feels best."

Tabanou has yet to feature in the Premier League for Swansea and has featured in only three cup games and has been substituted in two of those.
