Nottingham Forest gave manager Stuart Pearce a 1-0 homecoming win over West Brom in their final pre-season friendly.
Pearce took his seat in the City Ground dugout for the first time since becoming Forest manager at the end of last season and watched on as Matty Fryatt's strike was enough to topple the Premier League outfit on Saturday.
Chris Burke, making his first appearance for the Reds, was the provider as he centred for Fryatt to power home from 12 yards.
Craig Dawson had the Baggies' best chance of earning a draw, but he headed wide as Forest registered a morale-boosting victory.
Albion's new defender Joleon Lescott came on for the second half but managed only 35 minutes before limping off, on what was his comeback from a calf injury.
