Nottingham Forest have confirmed caretaker manager Gary Brazil will remain in charge until the end of the season.

The 54-year-old, who has been in caretaker control since the sacking of Philippe Montanier on January 14, will continue to be assisted in the role by Jack Lester.

Former Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett turned down the chance to replace Montanier last month following a failed takeover bid from former San Diego Padres owner John Jay Moores.

Forest have won three of their four matches since academy manager Brazil took charge of first-team affairs, including a 2-1 success over Aston Villa at the City Ground last weekend.

That run of form has lifted Forest up to 15th in the Sky Bet Championship and away from immediate relegation danger, with an eight-point cushion between themselves and 22nd-placed Blackburn Rovers.
