Bristol City will kick off their Sky Bet Championship campaign at home to Sky Bet League One champions Wigan on August 6.
Lee Johnson's men will then take to the road for their next two games with a clash against Burton Albion their first away game followed by a trip to relegated Norwich City.
The Robins face a trip to Wolves on Boxing Day and a New Year's Eve trip to Ipswich before kicking off 2017 with a home game against Reading.
Johnson's first clash with his former club Barnsley comes at Oakwell on October 29 before the Tykes visit Ashton Gate in the penultimate home game of the season on April 22.
City will hope to improve on last season's finish of 18th when they end the season at home against Birmingham on May 7.
