Bristol City have signed on-loan Wigan goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell on a permanent basis for an undisclosed fee.

O'Donnell, who has penned a two-and-a-half-year deal, has made four appearances for City since initially arriving on loan at Ashton Gate in mid-January.

The 27-year-old joined Wigan on a free transfer last summer following the expiry of his contract at Walsall and made 12 appearances for the Latics in all competitions this season.

O'Donnell tweeted: "I'm absolutely delighted to commit my future to Bristol City. Everyone at the club has been absolute brilliant with me and my family and made everything very easy for us.
