Judge double downs County

Alan Judge scored twice as Brentford cruised to a comfortable 3-1 win over Notts County to boost their automatic promotion hopes.

Adam Forshaw broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark, scoring from the penalty spot after Clayton Donaldson had been brought down in the box by Haydn Hollis. The centre-back saw red for the late tackle and the Londoners, who were already in control, never looked back. Judge made it two-nil just before the break, firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after a slide rule Alan McCormack pass had played him in. The former County man was in the right place to smash home the third goal just after the restart after Magpies goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski twice denied Toumani Diagouraga with excellent stops. Alan Sheehan's curling free-kick forced Bees goalkeeper David Button into a full-length save in the 54th minute as the Bees closed the game down. But Jimmy Spencer grabbed a late consolation for the visitors when he lobbed over a stranded Button late on. Brentford, victims of a penalty reversal on Tuesday night, appeared to suffer the same fate before half-time when Donaldson was clipped in the box by Nathan Tyson. Referee Charles Breakspear appeared to point to the spot but then changed his mind after consulting with his assistant.
