Hull have had a bid rejected for Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan.

The 27-year-old Scotland international joined Wednesday from Crystal Palace on a one-year deal in 2015 and signed a three-and-a-half-year contract extension in January 2016.

Bannan has become a fan favourite at Hillsborough in the last two seasons, making 87 appearances and scoring four goals.

Hull manager Leonid Slutsky needs a replacement for Sam Clucas who has completed a £16.5m move to Swansea.

Slutsky's side have made a poor start to the season, they sit 14th in the Championship with just four points from four games and were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League one side Doncaster last night.
