Hull City have failed in their appeal to sanction the transfer of Yannis Salibur from French side Guingamp
The Tigers had been hoping to sign the midfielder prior to the close of the transfer window, but were unable to finalise the necessary paperwork before the 11pm deadline on January 31.
Hull appealed to FIFA last week in an attempt to force through a move, with boss Marco Silva still hopeful of being able to conclude a deal.
However, those hopes were dashed on Wednesday with Hull confirming their appeal to world football's governing body had been unsuccessful.
Salibur, previously of Lille, Boulogne and Clermont, joined Guingamp in 2015 and has 18 months left to run on his current contract.
Despite missing out on Salibur, Silva secured seven new signings during January and has overseen an upturn in Hull's results since replacing Mike Phelan as head coach.
The Portuguese has lost just once in the Premier League and guided his side to a surprise 2-0 victory over Liverpool last Saturday.
Hull sit 18th in the table, just one point from safety. They face Arsenal on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium, live on Sky Sports.
