Demarai Gray will be out for "between three and five weeks" after being stretchered off against Wolves on Tuesday, says Leicester manager Claude Puel.

Sky Sports News had reported earlier this week that Gray was expected to miss weeks, not months, despite needing several minutes of treatment on his ankle before he was carried off the pitch in the Carabao Cup tie.

The midfielder, who had been a second-half substitute at Molineux, told reporters he thought his injury was ligament-related as he limped out of the players' entrance after the game on crutches, with his foot in a protective boot.

But Puel confirmed a scan on Thursday showed Gray's ankle was sprained and not broken.

"We will see if he can come back quicker," Puel said, ahead of Leicester's game against Newcastle on Saturday.
