Former Leicester manager Nigel Pearson is not under consideration for another return as boss following the sacking of Craig Shakespeare, Sky Sports News understands.

But former Newcastle, Southampton and Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew is believed to be interested in speaking to the Foxes.

Pearson, who was dismissed himself for a first time in June 2015 having just kept the Foxes in the Premier League, recently regained the employment of the club's owners at their other team - OH Leuven in Belgium.

After a string of controversial issues during his time at Leicester, Pearson is thought to have repaired his relationship with chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and his son Aiyawatt.

However, after his former assistant Shakespeare lost the top job on Tuesday, sources have told Sky Sports News Pearson is not currently in the running to return for a second time.

Pearson lost his job at the Foxes for the first time in 2010 under the club's previous owner Milan Mandaric, despite reaching the Championship play-offs in which they were knocked out of the semi-finals by Cardiff City.

Pearson was brought back to Leicester by the King Power owners in November 2011 after a spell at Hull City, along with Shakespeare, and eventually took the Foxes into the Premier League with promotion as Championship champions in 2014.

But after struggling in the top flight in their first season and incidents including a clash with Crystal Palace's James McArthur during a match and branding a journalist an "ostrich", Pearson was dismissed and replaced by Claudio Ranieri, who led Leicester to the Premier League title the following year.

Both Pearson and Ranieri's former assistant Shakespeare, who succeeded the Italian in February, was sacked on Tuesday with the club second from bottom in the Premier League, following one win in eight games.
