Charlie Austin says Joey Barton was silly to get sent off at Hull

Charlie Austin has revealed his frustration at Joey Barton's dismissal in QPR's 2-1 defeat at Hull on Saturday.

QPR midfielder Joey Barton explains the reasoning behind his red-card against Hull City, and apologises to the travelling fans for his actions.

Barton was dismissed after 32 minutes at the KC Stadium, with the Hoops already 1-0 down, when he aimed a low blow at Tigers midfielder Tom Huddlestone.

Players from both sides had clashed after debutant Darnell Furlong was penalised for a full-blooded challenge on Nikica Jelavic, but Barton's decision to take a cheap shot at his opposite number proved costly for his side.

Austin went on to equalise but Hull claimed three vital points in the closing minutes when January signing Dame N'Doye headed past Rob Green.

Matt Le Tissier claims the reckless actions of QPR captain Joey Barton cost his side as they lost 2-1 at Hull City.

But the striker, who has scored 14 Premier League goals this season, said he is beginning to get tired of Barton's behaviour even though he apologised to his team-mates straight after the game.

"I think he just went over to protect Darnell but it's a silly sending off," said Austin.

"It's kind of cost us the game. He's the villain and rightly so for getting sent off. He's got to deal with it.

"He's going to miss the next three games and he's an important player for us, he's our captain.

"He's just held his hands up and said sorry...There's only so many times you can say sorry. We move on now, we've got a squad and that's the main thing."
