Burnley remain interested in signing Jay Rodriguez from West Brom in the January transfer window, Sky Sports News understands.

The Clarets made a number of offers for their former forward in the summer but would not pay more than £16m, while Albion were demanding upwards of £18m.

Burnley were interested in a double deal for both Rodriguez and Craig Dawson, but interest in the centre-back has cooled after the Premier League side signed Ben Gibson from Middlesbrough.

Sean Dyche wants a winger in the next transfer window and potentially another striker, and the club will look to sign a player that can cover both positions if they can.

And the experienced Rodriguez would fit that profile, having played off the left during his time both at Southampton and current club West Brom.

He has scored eight goals in the Sky Bet Championship this term, taking his Albion tally to 19 in all competitions having joined them almost a year ago in a £12m deal from the Saints.

Burnley are also admirers of Brentford's Ollie Watkins but the Championship club want more than £20m for the forward.
