Sean Dyche says Burnley will quickly move on from Carabao Cup loss

Burnley manager Sean Dyche says the dictation of the Premier League mean they have to shrug off their midweek cup disappointment.

Burnley secured their first Premier League win of the season last weekend when they beat Bournemouth 4-0, but then lost 2-1 at Burton in the Carabao Cup.

They now travel to Cardiff for an important Premier League game on Sunday, live on Sky Sports Premier League, and Dyche insists Tuesday's defeat has been shrugged off.

He said: "You want to win those games but, when they are done, they are done - they are parked very quickly.

"We know the driver is towards the Premier League, it is just the way it is.

"It is nothing to do with downplaying cups or our mentality. We created enough chances to win that game comfortably, and Burton did a good job.

"It is parked very quickly and we have got to move on, because the Premier League is where everyone wants to be and we certainly want to challenge in the Premier League. That is the main focus."

Dyche said: "Cardiff have had a tough start - partly from the realities of the fixtures, partly because it is a tough league.

"We have been through that ourselves. The main thing is to focus on what we do.

"There are no gimmes, no easy games - every game you have to give everything, certainly when you are Burnley.

"Last weekend was pleasing on many different levels but, one thing we speak to the players a lot about - it doesn't guarantee the next one.

"We have got to go and earn the right yet again."
