Sean Dyche praised his Burnley side for playing to their strengths as they ground out a gritty 2-1 win over Everton.
They were under pressure for large spells but led at the break through Sam Vokes, who scored after a mistake from away goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
Although Yannick Bolasie later levelled, Scott Arfield struck in stoppage time to give the Lancashire side their third home win of the Premier League season.
Taking their points tally at Turf Moor to 10 from a possible 18, Dyche was happy to see his players deliver what he wanted after a poor display in last week's 3-1 loss at Southampton.
He said: "We went away from Southampton last week disappointed in the performance. The result was because we didn't perform and they're a good side.
"We've got to look at ourselves and we did that today. We got our performance level back to what it was.
"We're authentic in our work. I don't think we're trying to kid anyone - I don't think we're going to take the Premier League by slicking the ball everywhere.
"We know we've got to make it awkward for teams, do the basics really well and work on our shape really well. I thought we did that over the 90 minutes.
"Ian Holloway said in the Championship we had a strong jaw and I think that was on show today.
"When we had to block, we had to defend and we had to work from our shape, we did that very, very well.
"This is becoming a tough place for teams. It has been in the past in my time here and it is at this level so we're really pleased with that.
"We know what we are. I think the people know what we are - it's a massive challenge to us to be in the Premier League and trying to achieve Premier League status on an ongoing basis.
"We take the challenge on gladly and I'm really pleased the fans got behind us in voice and I'm really pleased for the players.
"We're missing a few key players and the ones who came in today were terrific in a really tough game. I'm really pleased with the mentality of the whole squad, not just the XI."
Although there was arguably a touch of good fortune about Burnley's win, Dyche took great pleasure from the goals they scored.
He added: "I thought they were two terrific goals. If you look at the build-up play for the first, I thought it was outstanding.
"He actually gets a lucky break in the end because I think the centre-half gets a foot on it when Scott goes to finish and the keeper parries it - great habits from Vokesy, of course.
"The second was a different kind of great goal in the sense Michael Keane keeps it alive and it's a fantastic strike from [Johann Berg] Gudmundsson.
"But what a finish from Scotty Arfield - they're ugly when they're bobbling at you and it was a great finish."
