Crystal Palace's record signing Christian Benteke may not have endeared himself to his new club after accidentally writing on Twitter that he had joined Burnley.

The Belgium striker completed his move to the Eagles from Liverpool on Saturday for an initial free of £27m on a four-year deal.

But he mistakenly tweeted that he had joined the Lancashire club and also spelled their name wrong.

His updated profile featured pictures of himself in a Palace shirt but the biography read: "Burnleyl FC and Belgium national team". His location on Twitter also remained as Liverpool.

The 25-year-old then changed the club to CPFC but not before the error was spotted by several of his 350,000 followers.
