Southampton midfielder Oriol Romeu is targeting success in both the EFL Cup and FA Cup this week as they face Liverpool and Arsenal in the respective competitions.

The Saints travel to Anfield in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals and hold a 1-0 aggregate advantage following the first meeting two weeks ago.

If they beat the Reds, they will set up a Wembley final with either Manchester United or Hull, with an FA Cup fourth-round fixture with Arsenal swiftly following on Saturday evening.

Despite the games coming thick and fast, Romeu is targeting victories in each, starting with the clash against Liverpool live on Sky Sports on Wednesday evening.

"I think we had a very good game at home and with good chances to score but the result in the end was very good," he told Sky Sports News HQ.

"It will be tough because Anfield always puts everything into those games but we are having a good run. We want to be positive because going there, we are one step from the final and I think that is very important for us and the club.

"The atmosphere will be amazing. It is one of those games that a player always wants to play in and we have to enjoy it but work hard as well.

"They will push from the first minute. They have to score and put a little bit more risk into their game and we need to play with that. We need to be clever.

"If we score, we can be in a very good position to go through so we need to play with that as well and hopefully everything goes well."

Southampton have knocked out Saturday's opponents Arsenal of the EFL Cup this season, winning 2-0 in the quarter-finals in November.

Romeu is hoping to use the result as a springboard to pick up a fourth-round FA Cup victory, and says the club are hoping to go as far as they can in the competition.

"I think we've been trying to be good in every competition. Sadly, we couldn't do it in the Europa League group stage but we've been trying to play our best in every game," he added.

"We've been rotating a lot with all the squad involved and having so many games so it has been very good. It had been very positive to get to the semi-finals and to get into the next round of the FA Cup.

"It will also be tough against Arsenal and they will come here to win. We also had another cup game this year and we could beat them so hopefully we can do it again.

"We always say we want to get as far as we can and hopefully get to the final [of the EFL Cup] and win something for the club because it would be amazing."
