West Brom manager Tony Pulis says Saido Berahino missed Tuesday night's FA Cup replay due to illness, rather than reported transfer interest from Newcastle and Chelsea.
And, even though Berahino has not started since October, Pulis says he wants the England Under-21 forward to remain with the Midlands club.
He has been regularly linked with a move away from the club during the January transfer window and Pulis was asked about reports of an impending £18m bid from Newcastle.
"The first thing to say is that the valuation will be determined by our chairman (Jeremy Peace)," said the Baggies boss.
"I was going to play Saido tonight but he's not been well.
"He's picked up a bug that (Rickie) Lambert and a few other players have had over the last few weeks, so we've given him a miss.
"But we want to keep Saido if we can."
West Brom will play host to Peterborough in round four of the Cup after Salomon Rondon scored the winner in the 52nd minute at Ashton Gate.
The Venezuelan joined for a club-record £12m in the summer from Zenit St Petersburg but he has only bagged four goals since.
However, Pulis said: "Salomon's going to be a very good player. He has found it difficult, the intensity of every game.
"Every game in the Premier League is so intense, whereas the countries he's played in before have not had that intensity, so we have to be patient.
"The players love him because he works so hard and he's such a genuine kid.
"You could see by the celebration how much they think of him and how pleased they were that he got the goal."
