Charlie Wyke’s first goal since August was not enough to end Sunderland’s winless run as Blackpool drew 1-1 at the Stadium of Light.
The former Bradford striker's first-half strike cancelled out Matty Virtue's early opener in the League One contest.
George Dobson was sent off with 16 minutes left for the Wearsiders, who are without a win in eight matches.
The Black Cats fell behind inside four minutes when Virtue curled home after a corner was poorly defended.
But Wyke was on hand to volley Chris Maguire's corner into the top of the net eight minutes before half-time.
Blackpool, who stayed in the play-off zone by extending their unbeaten run to seven games, could not find a winner.
The closest they came was when Armand Gnanduillet directed an effort from team-mate James Husband on to the post when it was heading in.
At the other end Wyke headed another Maguire corner against the bar but Sunderland had to finish with 10 men after Dobson picked up his second yellow for his lunge on Gnanduillet.
