Sam Allardyce has held his first training session since being appointed as Sunderland manager.

The former Bolton and West Ham boss arrived at the Black Cats' 'Academy of Light' training complex on Monday morning to begin work with those players not on international duty.

Several of Sunderland's first team are away with their respective countries on Monday but Allardyce was able to meet up with the majority of his squad.

Sunderland are currently second bottom of the Premier League table, having picked up just three points from their opening eight fixtures.

Allardyce, 60, will be hoping to make an immediate impact when he takes charge for the first time in Saturday's trip to West Brom. He is due to hold his first press conference at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday afternoon.
