Ashley Cole would consider a move to Birmingham City, according to Sky sources.
Robbie Keane - who has been playing with Cole at LA Galaxy - is expected to begin talks with Birmingham this week over a move to the club, Sky Sports News HQ understands, which could persuade Cole to follow him to St Andrew's.
Birmingham manager Harry Redknapp confirmed his interest in both players on Saturday, but admitted he was not sure of Cole's availability.
"Ashley Cole, for me, was best left-back in the world a few years ago. He was just a fantastic player," Redknapp told Sky Sports News HQ.
"He's out in America. I don't know what Ashley's plans are. His name was mentioned to me. When you have a chance to get someone like him, if he's available, he has to be of interest."
Keane remains a free agent and has been training in Ireland this summer, with Redknapp admitting the striker would be "wonderful" to have around the Birmingham dressing room.
The 36-year-old's last spell in English football was with West Midlands rivals Aston Villa in 2012.
