Tykes midfielder suffers broken metatarsal

Emil Hallfredsson will not play again for Barnsley this season after breaking a bone in his foot. The Iceland international sustained the knock during the Tykes' 0-0 draw with Sheffield United on Saturday. He was forced off at Bramall Lane just after the interval, with it apparent that he had suffered a serious injury. The problem kept him out of Barnsley's 2-2 draw with Peterborough on Monday, although the full extent of the injury had yet to be revealed at that point. Hallfredsson's worst fears have since been realised, though, with the club confirming that the midfielder will sit out the final four games of the 2009/10 campaign. "Emil has broken his fifth metatarsal and that is his season over," Tykes boss Mark Robins told the club's official website. "He will not feature for the team again this campaign."
