Preston's Ben Davies (No 2) scored in a midweek 3-1 win against Daniel Farke's side with stopper Declan Rudd (No 3) making eight saves - before helping their side keep a clean sheet in a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.
Team-mate Alan Browne (No 9) also maintained his top-10 standing, while QPR forward Matt Smith (No 5) scored his fourth league goal in as many games during a 2-1 defeat at Bristol City.
Sheffield United's Gary Madine (No 6) and John Fleck (No 8) soared up the chart after getting on the scoresheet in a 4-0 win against Reading - with the club's top scorer Billy Sharp (No 4) watching from the bench.
Jay Rodriguez (No 7) doubled West Brom's lead in a 2-0 win at Aston Villa, while in-demand Birmingham forward Che Adams (No 10) slipped down the rankings after his side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Bolton on Tuesday.
