Burton v Wigan preview

Burton are battling against a sickness bug that has swept through the squad ahead of their home game against fellow strugglers Wigan.

Brewers boss Nigel Clough had just 12 fit players training on Tuesday with injuries accounting for Jackson Irvine (groin), Chris O'Grady and Ben Turner (hamstring), all of whom are rated 50/50 for Saturday's game.

Midfielder Will Miller is also a doubt with a hamstring injury while striker Luke Varney is out for at least four weeks with a punctured lung suffered on his debut at Watford last weekend.

Marvin Sordell was unavailable at Vicarage Road because he was cup-tied but the striker returns to contention against Wigan.

Nick Powell will be missing from the Wigan party that makes the trip.

The former Manchester United man has suffered a recurrence of a hamstring issue he was plagued by earlier in the season and boss Warren Joyce this week revealed he may struggle to play again this term.

Latics are beset by injuries and though Craig Morgan (groin) and David Perkins (hamstring) are back doing light training, they are still considered some way off a first-team return.
